Introduction

Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC), later known as the East Pakistan Agricultural Development Corporation, was established by the Agricultural Development Corporation Ordinance, 1961 (E.P. Ordinance XXXVII,1961). In 1975 BADC was provided with Bangladesh agricultural inputs and services as it was considered different from other development institutions of the agricultural sector of the government.Corporation was renamed as (BAISSC). But in 1976, BAISSC was renamed BADC. As an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Agriculture, BADC is based in Dhaka city but its scope of services is spread throughout Bangladesh. There is a wide network of field offices up to the upazila level, and even in some cases in more remote areas.The basic tasks assigned to BADC are: Sustaining management of production, collection (procurement), transportation, storage and distribution of agricultural inputs across Bangladesh and providing irrigation facilities to farmers through supply of essential agricultural inputs such as seeds, fertilizers and use of surface and ground water. to do The Corporation was reorganized by a Gazette Notification in 1999 (Bangladesh Gazette published on November 22, 1999) and provided some new activities on quality seed production and irrigation.By providing financial support through new projects and programs in BADC, creation of opportunities to use surface water for irrigation, import of fertilizers through G2G system, strengthening of seed production activities including seed breeding of high yielding varieties and various types of adverse tolerant varieties are undertaken.
